In this edition, we look at climate issues, given the upcoming COP26 in November, where we hope world leaders will agree to significant pledges to reduce emissions for a more sustainable world 🌍.
What is COP?
‘COP’ stands for ‘Conference of the Parties’ where ‘the Parties’ are the governments that have signed the UN Framework Convention of Climate Change (UNFCCC). The COP brings these signatory governments together once a year to discuss how to jointly address climate change.
This year, the UK is hosting COP26 b/w 1-12th November 2021 in the city of Glasgow.
Why is it important?
COP26 is a critical summit for global climate action.
To have a chance of limiting warming to 1.5 degrees, global emissions must halve by 2030 and reach ‘net-zero’ by 2050. The 2021 Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) report underscores it is still possible to achieve the 1.5-degree-target but only if unprecedented action is taken now.

Things to watch
Global 🌍 Citizen Live conducted a 24hr live concert with artists such as Kylie Minogue, Black Eyed Peas, Cold Play, Burna Boy & Elton John & many more (!) coming together to fight climate change and global poverty. Watch here: Part 1 and Part 2
Watch David Attenborough’s A Life On Our Planet to get a graphic first-hand account of the monumental scale of humanity's impact on nature.
Productivity Hacks 📅
We’re all about finding useful hacks to help us work better. Trello is our tip today. Trello is a free project management solution that uses a kanban board approach.
Each task or set of tasks is grouped onto a board with cards that you can move around to different progress points, depending on the work that has been done and the tasks that still need to be done. It’s insanely great & we definitely recommend it for Jonusta freelancers looking to organise their work.
What are we reading📚?
In The Future We Choose, Christiana Figueres and Tom Rivett-Carnac pen an optimistic book about the world’s changing climate and the fate of humanity. Two possible scenarios are highlighted for our planet. In one, they describe what life on Earth will be like by 2050 if we fail to meet the Paris Agreement’s climate targets - not good for humanity! In the other, they lay out what it will be like to live in a regenerative world that has net-zero emissions. They argue for confronting the climate crisis head-on, with determination and optimism. The Future We Choose presents options ahead for us & what governments, corporations, and each of us can, and must, do to fend off disaster.
The message is stark. Our climate is changing - fast. So let’s act now to save our home🌍.
Till next time, stay safe & be well - ❤️ from Team Jonusta
